This is a shop for not shopping. For buying things to make you not buy things. For not buying things. For making things. For looking and clicking. I know it's a cliché to say, "buy experiences and not stuff" but a lot of clichés are true. This shop is about buying and memorializing experiences, and about repurposing old stuff, or even simply figuring out how to look at old stuff in new ways.
My book, A Bunch of Pretty Things I Did Not Buy, comes out next October. It's based on a visual essay I drew and published on The Hairpin, about painting things I coveted instead of buying them. It's about developing a curriculum for consuming, The School of Slow Shopping, if you will.
